Health
Promotion
We encourage all our patients to share the responsibility
for their health, both in preventing disease and in treating existing disease.
We believe a healthy lifestyle is an essential ingredient for preventing many
diseases. Advice and informative leaflets are available from the practice nurses.
If you know of any friend or member of your family who has not had a health check
for several years please encourage them to come along and see us. Newly registered
patients are asked to fill in a medical/lifestyle check. Patients 75 years and
over are offered a health check every year. This can be done at the surgery or,
if you are housebound, a home visit can be arranged.
Patients 16 - 74 years
are asked to fill in a medical/lifestyle questionnaire and invited to discuss
this with the nurse. Ask at reception for details. Cervical smears are advised
for all women every three years. You will be invited by letter with an appointment
time. If you do not receive an invite please enquire at reception.
If you
have any doubts about any of the immunisations please speak to either your doctor
or one of our health visitors.
